Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Hi my mom recently passed. She had some bills. She has no estate and no monies. We the children do not want to be in charge of her affairs. She has no estate respresentative etc,.Today, I received a letter fromElis Estate Information Services that they would like to speak to the person taking care of her affairs. Should I call them and let them know that noone is interested in filing a an estate representative etc. Or should I ignore the letter because I do not want to be liable if I call.
Thanks

Here's the problem. If she had no will any creditor owed enough can open up a probate estate and then try to come after the heirs thinking something was hidden. If there was a will even more issues. It may be worth while to open an estate and close it
