Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Mr former boss did not pay a bill and a lien has been placed against my property. They had my name as a contact person incase of emergency and I have told them repeatedly I have not worked for him for three years and I never was responsible to pay the bills and I asked for my name to be removed from their records. Sat. I got a notice that a lien had been placed.

In order to have the lien removed you need to go to court and convince the judge that issued the lien that the creditor did not have the right to place a lien on your property. You may be able to get damages from the creditor, which may include your attorney's fees and court costs.
This is very strange. You cannot just head down to the recorder's office and lien someone's property unless one of three things have happened: 1. You agreed to the lien, e.g., signed a mortgage; 2. Someone did work on your property and filed a mechanics lien; 3. A judgment was entered against you. If none of these things happened, it would appear you have a pretty good slander of title case.
I suggest that you take whatever paperwork that you can find and see a local attorney. Assuming that the lien is improper, it is not likely that a non-lawyer could resolve the matter.
Good luck.
