Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
non disclosure of structural damage
I found out a few months after purchasing my condo that it needed major structural repairs(it was sinking). A special assessment collected some money from the unit owners, including the ones I bought the condo from, however, it wasn't enough. Now they are creating a new special assessment. Shouldn't this problem have been disclosed to me before purchase?

How do I put this politely? I can't--you're damn right there should have been disclosure. The statute of limitations to file suit could be as short as one year, so do not delay in contacting an attorney.
Re: non disclosure of structural damage
In my opinion, there should have been full
disclosure of this defect at the time you
purchased the condo. It appears as if your
only way out is to file a lawsuit against your
seller. Will be happy to answer any additional
questions that you may have.
