Notice of Interest In Real Estate

How legal is a Notice of Real Estate filed at the County Clerks Office (Illinois) by a former renter 10 years ago? The document does not bear our signatures since we never made any such agreement with the tenant. The tenant, an elderly relative moved out serveral years ago. Through attorneys it was established she had no case and eventually was advised by her 3rd or 4th attorney to withdraw the Notice, but she never did. Our current renter is interested in buying this property. We are reaching retirement age and are considering selling. We live in a different state. Will this Notice present a problem? Needless to say we no longer communicate with the relative.

Without seeing the document, it is difficult to say. The fact that your signatures do not appear on the document should certainly help you. It all depends on the content of the document.
