Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I am an owner of my own condo unit in the condo complex and for the last 3 months one of my neighbors has called police to my place at 2 AM in the morning (this happens once a month always around the same time and day of the week). Quite honestly I always go to sleep around 10 PM and have never even stayed up until 2 AM. Every time the police officers arrive they knock very loud on my door and naturally wake me up in the middle of the night. When I talk to them they tell me that the reason for their arrival was an anonymous call from one of my neighbors complaining of excessive noise levels (which is impossible since I am long asleep).
Naturally I understand that the police have to investigate when someone calls but I am certain that it is just some disgruntled neighbor that is trying to make my life difficult of maybe kids of my neighbors playing a prank. I tried to find out from the police which neighbor is making these calls and even went to the local police station to find out which of my neighbors placed these calls but I was told that they can not share this information with me.
My only intend is to talk to the neighbor who is making these calls to let him know that it is not me who is making these noises; however, like I have explained above I simply do not know to which of my neighbors I should talk.
My question is: Can I legally force/ask police to let me listen to the 911 call or provide me with the address from which the call originated?

You could try making a Freedom of Information Act request. You could also ask the officers who respond to talk to the complainant about this.
