right of ownership
my grandparents bought a house and put my mother on the title. Both my grandparents and my mother are dead. My uncle says he owns the house. I say I own the house. There was no will.

You need to talk to an estate planning attorney or a probate attorney. Each state, including Illinois, has laws of succession that say where property goes if a person dies without a will. I believe it would go to the children in Illinois, but to be sure, ask one of the professionals mentioned above.

First of all, you need to determine whether the house was owned in joint tenancy with right of survivorship. If so, and you mother died after your grandparents then you would own it, if you are the only child. If, however, she wasn't the last to die, chances are your Uncle may own it. However, if there was no right of survivorship, it is possible that both of you own it.
Check the deed that placed your mother and grandparents in ownership.
