Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
My parents (owner) have a house in Troy Illinois and they had a contact for deed with a couple (renters). I have Power of Attorney(PoA) over the house. The owners currently live in Ohio. The renters moved 2 months ago without letting the owners know. In the process the renters did about $50-60,000 worth of damage to the house. The broke windows, flooded the basement, threw paint all over one bedroom walls upstairs, stole fridge, etc... What can I do to make sure these people pay for this damage. Can I have them arrested even though this is a civil matter?

Criminal damage to property is a criminal, not civil offense. However, you can also prosecute the civil side. You need to speak to an attorney. Good Luck.
