I am an attorney who receives referrals from a Pre-paid legal service. I know of many attorneys who actually subscribe to pre-paid legal services. One reason is that you have available resources to give you guideance on a variety of issues you may have thought should be reviewed by an attorney and didn't take the time to do it, or didn't have the resources (money) to pay someone to review the issue.

Much like health insurance, pre-paid legal services can limit your exposure to otherwise untamed legal fees. Many people use the service to prepare a will, update a will, prepare Power of Attorney forms for healthcare, get advice for elders who may become sickly and require legal services, or questions about the law concerning income tax matters, real estate transactions, traffic/moving violations or simply attorney review of contracts that come up in everyday life.

To have a single source of potential resources to a variety of specialist attorneys who can represent your best interests would be a helpful tool for most people. The other positive reason to use Pre-Paid Legal services is that the attorneys are screened to determine specialty among their peers, to make certain they have legal malpractice insurance and do not have negative claims or sanctions from the State of Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee which oversees attorney conduct in the State of Illinois.

There is a company called Prepaid Legal Plans out of Oklahoma who has individuals market their plans. I am not sure if your question is about a marketing opportuity for you or whether you are asking about prepaid legal plans in general. If in general, I have serviced many plans over the last 15 years or so. I think that they can be a great benefit and a tremendous savings over non plan fees.
