if your propert tax is bought how do you get it back

i had my property tax sold at a sale cause i could not pay it if somebody bought it how do i get it back and how long do i have to buy it back before he can go after the deed what is the process

Contact the County Treasurer (Cook's website is cookcountytreasurer.com). You should have 2 years to "redeem" your taxes after a tax sale, but obviously you don't want to wait; try to redeem them ASAP. To do that, you need a "certificate of redemption" from the treasurer. It will show you the exact amount needed and by what date in order to redeem your taxes. Try to find out immediately what date you need to redeem them by so you can be sure your property isn't sold from underneath you.

You have to redeem the taxes. When the taxes were sold there should've been a notice giving you the time period you have to redeem the taxes by paying them.
