Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Property Line Issue
If there is a violation of the documented property line between two neighboring home owners, such as a flower bed that crosses the actual property line, how long would the landscaping in question be in place before the party that the items are improaching upon does not have a course of action to get those items moved? Is there a ''statue of limitations'' of sorts for property lines within Illinois Real Estate laws?

Re: Property Line Issue
If the flower bed is encroaching upon your property, the best thing you can do is grant your neighbor a "license" to have part of their flower bed on your property. Just a simple message in the Christmas card every year can be sufficient, if worded properly. By allowing them to use the property, you avoid the possibility (though remote) that they could take the property by adverse possession. Plus, you look like a great neighbor!
