Dear Friend,
Sorry to hear of the breakup. Is there a chance your ex-partner might consider mediation (using a neutral third-party to discuss the situation) as a way to resolve things in a healthy manner? If so, that can be done quickly and without charge. If not, perhaps a letter from an attorney with a polite threat might be enough to get them to take action, rather than resorting to eviction court. Please write me, if there is anything I can do to help.
Sincerely,
Gerald Nordgren

Hello. If you have ownership in the
residence, you have a right to remain
on the premises. Usually these matters end up in court and can be
alittle sticky if the parties are not married, but are both named on a lease or mortgage. Therefore, there is no real timetable. However, if you
are not on the lease or do not own the property with the other person, your ex-partner can evict you by giving a 30 days notice of termination of tenancy. If you do not move after the 30 days, your ex
can then take you to court and have you evicted as any landlord could. Will be happy to answer any additional questions you might have.
