Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Purchased home, and had to break lease early.
When looking for a home to purchase, we intended to keep our lease til the end. When we found the perfect home, we had to accept closing early, and breaking our lease two months before our lease was up. The reason was also that the people selling us this house, had already purchased a new home, and had to sell this one. In the event you are not leaving to rent somewhere else, but because you purchased a home, are you still liable for remaining payments due? or do you only loose your security deposit?

Re: Purchased home, and had to break lease early.
The short answer is: you are liable under the terms and provisions of the lease to pay rent until the end of the lease term. If you breach the lease, then you are liable for monies in addition to the rent, e.g., attorneys fees and court costs. What you have related is an excuse, not a defense.
