Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I purchased a home that was previously a rental property. It is to be my primary residence. The previous landlord gave a verbal notice in June that the property was to be sold in the fall, to give the tenants plenty of time to move. It was rented out on a month-to-month verbal agreement. I closed on the loan on Friday and the tenants have not moved. They basically told me to get over it, they would continue to pay the rent to me and they would move in the spring. What can I do to remove them?

Give a thirty day notice asap and file an eviction.

IF YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN THE TENANTS A 30-DAY NOTICE TO MOVE, EITHER AT OR AFTER CLOSING, THEN GIVEN THE TENANTS THAT NOTICE NOW BY REGULAR AND BY CERTIFIED MAIL, AND KEEP A COPY FOR YOUR FILES. YOU WILL NEED TO GIVE A COPY OF THAT LETTER AND RETURN SERVICE TO THE JUDGE WHEN YOU FILE AN EVICTION LAWSUIT, WHICH YOU HAVE TO DO NOW.
