Purchasing building with unwanted tenants
I am in teh process of purchasing a 2-flat that i plan to use as a personal "single-family" house.
we had been informed that the remaining tenants (1st floor) would be out by closing. Just recently we have been told this is false.
According to the chicago RLTO 5-12-020 my building (as an owner occupied dwelling of 6 or less units) is excluded from that ordinance.
What laws apply for evicting the tenants (state or federal) and is there anything short of 30-day notice that i can do because of this exclusion

Hello. In my opinion, the 30
day notice is your best method
of getting the tenant(s) to
move.
