Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
real estate
my wife & brother have inherited property. I have been paying the majority of the expenses for over 7 years. He refuses to sell the property even though my wife wants to. Do I have any recourse to force him to sell?

Re: real estate
I am assuming the property is located in IL. Therefore, I would defer to the posted answers by the IL attorneys. However, I would suggest that you have the documents reviewed by a local attorney. Feel free to give me a call. In GA, we would file a Petition to Partition, which can result in a forced sale. I would assume that most other states have a similar law, although it may be called by a different name.
Re: real estate
There are different options available to you depending on how they hold the title. Would the brother be able to buy your wife's interests in the property?

Q. How is title held? That is critical in order to answer your question. In what county is the real property?
