Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I received a letter from my landlord stating the residents in my floor complained that when my husband and I are having sex we are very loud and four residents were standing in the halls and could hear everything. I felt so violated and disrespected. I would like to know what I can do about this issue. We have lived there two years with no complaint of that sort. Please tell me there is something to be done about violating my privacy.

If the neighbors can hear you because you are loud (no matter what you are doing), that is not a violation of your privacy. If anything you may be creating a nuisance. The fact that the neighbors didn't come to you first was probably respectful; how would you have received the information? If the loudness persists, you might wind up being in default. Other information may change this response, I am not your attorney and this can not be relied upon as legal advice. You should take the letter to an attorney for review and, depending on other facts, get a solid opinion.
