Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I recently moved out of my dad's house. He said I could move my stuff out at my convenience, but he changed the locks without notice before I could get everything out. What can I do legally to get my things back?

If he doesn't respond to an attorney letter or call, you may have to file a lawsuit called "replevin" which means someone is holding property out against you and you have the better claim to possess it. It may make a different if you are an adult or a minor, because if you are a minor your dad may attempt to claim that some of "your stuff" actually are things he paid for.....
