Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

We recently rented a house . My Landloard has not presented us with a lease after I have requested one many times. I spoke with him today and he is telling me know that there will not be a lease becuase he lawyere advised against it? What can I do to get a lease?

Send him a letter outlining the terms you believe are agreed upon and stating that unless he rejects anything in the letter within 7 days you will deem it accepted as the outline rental agreement. You may want to have a lawyer prepare it. On the other hand, just note that even without a lease as you are apparently in Chicago, the Chicago Residential Landlord & Tenant Ordinance DOES apply to your situation and there are many protections for you in it and the landlord is in jeopardy for not complying with it.
