Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Refusal by landlord Hto rent apartment

Hello,I was helping my sis-in-law to find apartment in chicago as I would be cosigning and she was new to the country. A local realtor refused to show the home before move in and on the date of move in was agitated by the questions we asked about the condition of the home and refused to rent the home to my sis-in-law. He was rude, arrogant, harassed us, and made us get out of the building landing my sis in law out of now place to stay. I had to take couple more days off from work and hunt day and night for another apartment for her. My sis in law was tormented as she was a new student in a new country and went through emotional distress for weeks following this incident. I had emailed the realty company where the agent worked regarding the discriminating treatment by the agent and after a couple of weeks the agent sends an email to my sis in law threating to take action against me and stating all my allegations were false and slanderous. He is trying to find personal information of my sis in law. What are my rights here and can I file a complaint with HUD/Dept of fair housing without the fear of my (and my sis in law;s) personal information being disclosed? What are the rights of the agent as well? Thx
