Release of Lien

We recently had some landscaping done by a local company. We have always been advised to have a contractor sign a release of lien upon completion of a job so that the homeowner is not liable for payment on any materials the contractor has purchased. We've never had a problem before; however, this contractor has said it is our responsibility to provide the form for them to sign. Is there any special wording we need to make sure this document is legal in the state of Illinois?
