Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Rental/Lease Question

When a landlord rents out a home are all the individuals required to fill out a credit app. and sign the lease?

My boyfriend and I have been renting a house for a year now and it is time to renew the lease. He is the one who intially moved in, did the credit app. and signed the lease. I moved in shortly after and the landlord has been aware of my presence since moved in. All payments for the year were on time and many times a week or two early.

Now that the lease needs to be signed again, the lanlord is asking for me to do the credit app. and sign the lease as well. Am I legally required to do this. Or is my boyfriend's signature enough for both of us to stay here. It is a three bedroom house we are renting.

Re: Rental/Lease Question

If there is no automatic renewal in the lease, then the whole process starts over with whatever terms a landlord could want to impose on the next renewal period.
