Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

My renter is two months behind in rent. The August rent will be due on the 1st and they will probably not have rent for any of the months owed. Should I file in small claims court for the back rent so that I have an enforcable judgement and if I do and later have to evict what happens to the judgement?

The judgment is still enforceable.
