Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

residential property fence

We have built a fence on our property. The fence does not sit on property lines. Our neighbor has offered to pay us for 1/2 the cost of the fence along our joint property line. His share of the cost would be $600, he will pay us $100/mo cash for 6 months. We have received $100 already.

Question: What documentation, if any, do we provide to our neighbor?

Re: residential property fence

If you have memorialized this agreement with your neighbor, you should provide a copy to him. It is unclear from your question where the fence lies -- if it is more on your neighbor's side or more on your side, then you may have an easement situation where you need to put something together and record it.
