Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I'm selling my townhouse. I am not buying another property in the near future. Planning to move out of Illinois. So do I need an attorney to close on this property?

The decision to act as your own attorney is similar to the decision to act as your own physician. If you know what you are doing, you might be fine, but if you do not know your tibia from your fibula, or your warranty deed from your title commitment, you might be better off hiring a professional. Your attorney will make sure everything goes smoothly, all the documents get to the right place at the right time, and will ensure you do not pay for anything for which you are not responsible.
Attorney Moens has stated things well. For a fairly small fee, a closing attorney in Northern Illinois will be in your corner helping with all aspects of the transaction. Even without an attorney representing your interests, an attorney will be paid to prepare your documents making your "savings" even less than might first appear. If you go without an attorney and something is missed as a result, you may be paying far more to clean up the mess than you would have paid in preventing it.
