Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I sold my house back in November 2009. Buyer paid cash, wanted NO home inspection (dad can do anything a home inspector can do), no home warranty. He is now saying there is a water leak in ceiling, thinks we were dishonest in disclosure. Can we be held responsible 4 months after closing?

There is a one year statute of limitations on the seller disclosure. That means they would have one year to sue you. The buyers would need to prove that you were aware of the defect and failed to disclose it.
