My son who is 24 shared a apartment with a friend. They both signed the lease, and I co endorsed for my son. My son was unable to make payments after a few months, but his roomate took care of the entire amount. I was not notified of anything. They parted company at the end of the lease, with my son owing his friend, not the landlord, 3600. He has not worked in over a year and is staying with me rent free. However, his former roomate is sending requests to me to pay for this. I made no agreement with him, only co endorsed on the original lease. Am I obligated to pay him?

A legitimate argument can be made by the roomate that he relied on your personal quarantee to the landlord in agreeing to sign the lease. It sounds to me as if the roomate was very good to your son and preserved both of their credit records as well as yours. Pay the man.
