Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Street light

My neighbor recently had a street light installed by the power company on a power pole that is on the edge of my property to illuminate his back yard . The light was installed so that instead of hanging over the public alley it hangs directly over the top of my garage in my backyard which is next to his. What rights do I have in regards to this and its removal. I was never even notified prior to the installation and the power company has done nothing after several calls.

Re: Street light

I'm not sure. I've read that municipalities are starting to address the "light pollution" issue, so maybe if you call your municipality they'll do something.

Also, maybe there are air rights you can legally "hang your hat" on. Finally, perhaps it could be considered a nuisance. In either of these two cases, I believe it's what's called a chancery case that you could sue for. But it's probably a long shot because it's a bit unusual.
