Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Successorship and name change

Hello - I changed my name legally, and I am named after my mother in the successorship of my grandmother's house under my birth name.

What documentation, if any, do they need, to ensure that the successorship is carried out in light of my name change? Do they need an official copy of the decree, for example? (They and the house are in Cook County, IL; I am in Santa Cruz County, CA.) Thank you!

I am not at all sure who "they" is/are. So, your question is not at all clear. Are you in a position to take title now? I.e., is your mother deceased?

Re: Successorship and name change

who is "they"? Contact them and find out what they want; even if they require documents that they should not, it is easier to get those documents then to fight with them.
