Can I be sued if someone gave me a dog they didnt want and after I gave it to some one else now they want it back

You were given a gift, being a dog. You then gave the dog away as a gift to someone else. Right? If so once a gift is made and unless this was a gift in contemplation of marriage that YOU broke off, normally you are not liable for return of the gift.
