Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I am a townhome owner and am trying to determine my legal rights regarding accessibility to certain records from my Homeowners Association. In my on-line research, I can't determine if I should look for the rules governing homeowners, condo owners or townhome owners. Can you tell me which rules apply to me. I live in Westchester, IL and am governed by the Westchester Place Homeowners Association. There are only townhomes in this subdivision. Thank you, Vola

There is a new law governing common interest associations. As a owner you are entitled to look at the minutes of board meetings, notice of board meeting and to review the financial records. If they refuse I believe they can be ordered to pay your legal fees. Google those terms to see recent articles on the subject.
