Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Yard damaged with intent by village employee using mower

What recourse do I have in getting my yard back to the way it was. The village sends someone out once a week to cut the grass on vacant lots adjoining my property. The person doing the mowing, decides to cut over half of the grass in front of a double driveway gate (there's no driveway), throwing dead grass all over the yard, he also cut the grass on the street side (on the opposite side of the sidewalk. I live on a corner lot. Should I request that the village have the person rake all the dead grass out of my yard? call my insurance company and let them suggest someone to do the cleaning and then have the village pay for it? try going to small claims court? can I take the individual to small claims court as well? I took pictures. I don't know if this is the same person, but this has been happening for the last two years -- I've lived here for 16 years. I took pictures last year as well. Chemlawn comes out to do my lawn every year and now the yard looks like the expressway road side with the straw-like grass all over it.

Hello. This is a perfect

example of a situation where

the problem should be able

to get resolved, without going

to court. I would suggests

that you call your village

councilman and/or representative and make a

complaint at that level. Should that not succeed, I suggests contacting the office

or your mayor or village

chairman.
