Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Over a year ago, My friend signed a lease for an apartment in IL, we gave deposit but never moved in. She told me that they werent going to move in. Now a year later she contacts me saying they are trying to sue her for rent cause she never contacted them and told them we werent moving in. She never sent rent checks cause we never moved in. Now they are trying to sue her and she says she will sue me if i don't help her pay for this..is this possible

Anything is possible if she can prove to a court that she and you had an agreement to share the cost of the apartment, and if you in fact advanced funds to cover the deposit that may be some evidence of that agreement. If however it was just what you agreed to chip in and she was supposed to be the only one on the lease, well, that's a matter for a court to decide.
