Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Illinois

Asked to resign for ''sexual harassment''
I was recently forced to resign for accusations of sexual harassment. However, these accusations came from someone who ''overheard'' my conversations and was not the subject of these supposed conversations nor involved in the conversation. I have since heard that this employee made up the stories. The employer did not do any investigation and only took this person's word for it. I was told I could reapply at another location at this company, but when I did, I was told they wouldn't hire me. I was also told that the reason for my resignation would not be discussed, but apparently it was. Do I have a case against the employer or the person making the accusations? I was also never given the opportunity to present my side of the story. Also, comments are made daily in the workplace that are worse than the ones I'm accused of, yet I was singled out.

Hello. In my opinion you have a law-

suit for wrongful discharge against your employer. I can understand your frustrations. Also you have a slan-der suit against the person who

made the allegations against you. Be very careful about the statute of limitations with regard to the suit

for wrongful discharge. You do not want your time for filing a lawsuit to lapse. Will be happy to discuss this with you further.
