Legal Question in Social Security Law in Illinois
My 1099's for my deceased father's estate were filed with my social security number instead of my father's EIN Number. This mistake caused me to loose my SSI Benefits Leaving me WITH NO INCOME. I've contacted the broker who made the mistake he does not want to correct them or admit the mistake. Who can I get to sue him?

First you should go to your local Social Security office, explain the problem and see what you need to do to fix it. Waiting for the broker won't fix it and it sounds like the broker won't help. If it's too complicated for you or there has been a real error made that you don't feel you can fix without legal help, you should have an attorney familiar with SSI try to help correct the error. People at the Social Security office, although they are not supposed to recommend anyone, may still help by giving you somebody's name if you're polite enough. Your goal is to reinstate your SSI if you in fact remain eligible, not simply sue the broker and wind up in a lawsuit that could take forver while you still have no income, possibly lose, etc. I don't do SSI work, but this is how I'd approach it logically. Good luck.
