Legal Question in Social Security Law in Illinois

I live on Social Security disability. I was 1st married for over 10 years, and he died. I remarried, and after over 30 years, he too died. I was told by Ss that when I turned 60 I could draw survivors benefits on my 1st husband, and it would be substantually more. I did so. I was told how much I would receive, and that was followed up in writing. For the 1st. time in a long while, I was able to by meds, etc. I replaced my old car, resulting in a car payment and higher insurance. Then I was notified by SS that they had made a mistake, and I would receive $632.00 less each month. If I had told someone verbally and in writing that I would pay them an amount, then said, oops I made a mistake, I would not legally get away with that. I paid my husbands SS and matched it since we were self employed. What can I do??
