Legal Question in Tax Law in Illinois

I just got called by a 202 area code and they left me a message. The voice message was an answering machine stating it was the IRS and they were going to sue me. This was a final attempt to reach me. I never got a notice by mail or anything. This is the first time I ever heard of them. I did owe them like $1400 which they took already on my 2015 tax refund. What should I do?

It's very likely a scam. The IRS does not call people and leave such messages.

If you Google "IRS telephone scam" or if you input the telephone number that called you, you will see that you have been targeted in one of the most deadly scams to hit the United States. Ignore the call, DO NOT RETURN THE CALL and if you get another one of these hang up immediately. This is not the IRS calling you, it is someone who wants to pick your pocket electronically.
