taxes on unallocated support payments
Ive been recieving unallocated support payments from my ex husband since Aug.2007, its $500 a week. Do I have to file taxes on this money this year? Also what would my filing status be for that year, the divorce was final Sept.2007. thank you

Re: taxes on unallocated support payments
Child support payments are not taxable to you. Alimony/maintenance payments are.
Generally, the amount is allocated first to child support and then to alimony.
You are single on the last date of the tax year, so you can either file as "single" or as "head of household" if you are maintaining the home for your child(ren) and the child is living with you.
Good luck to you.
