Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
I was in an accident in Michigan and I was forced to go into a slide after being cut off by a car that fled the scene. My back end hit a UPS truck that was parked in a no parking zone with heavy traffic. Am I liable? Could UPS be liable for parking in a posted no parking zone?

If the accident was in Michigan you need to ask for help regarding Michigan law. For example, if you took defensive action that constituted your "last clear chance" to avoid an accident with the car that cut you off and fled that then set off the chain of events that led to your collision with the UPS truck, under Illinois you may avoid liability, but this may not be the case in Michigan. Also, as to the "no parking zone" it depends what the purpose of the zone was and whether it was truly parked or just "standing". Finally Michigan may or may not have what is called "res ipsa" which means that this kind of accident implies you were somehow negligent because the situation speaks for itself.
