Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

auto accident

my girlfriend crashed on the side of her home in a 3way alley turning right while the other car went straight.she ran inside her home, the police came and charged me because i jumped on the driver side and when he asked if i was the driver i said yes because i didnt want her to go down for hit n run.her car was under her moms name and insured.i didn't mail the illinois moto.report and now received notice of suspension stating vehicle was not insured.what should i say at the hearing if the car ends up to be uninsured or what should i do.

You should say nothing. You have all ready said too much. There are many other things you could get in trouble for that carry jail time. If as you say the mother had insurance, then you should have an attorney and provide your counsel with the insurance information and he can present that on your behalf.
