Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Bench Warrant Issued Out-Of-State

I live in Kansas and traveled to Belleville, Illinois to assist an acquaintance in the process of moving his personal possessions from Illinois to Kansas. While there, he rented a moving truck and asked --name removed-- to follow him in his personal vehicle while he drove the moving truck. I was involved in an accident while driving his vehicle and issued a ticket for Failing to Yield on a Left Turn. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident was taken to a nearby hospital. When I sent in the payment for the ticket it was denied, and I was told I was required to appear in court because personal injury was involved. If I fail to appear a bench warrant will be issued. --name removed-- problem is that I cannot afford to return to Illinois. I am unemployed and do not have a stable residence. How would an out-of-state bench warrant affect --name removed-- in Kansas? Will law enforcement actively try to find --name removed-- here, or will I be taken into custody if I am detained by an officer for other reasons?

lea bargain which would avoid the conviction. This usually requires written proof that there was insurance that will cover the damage and injuries from the accident (usually in the form of a letter from your insurance company.) In any event, I do practice in Illinois, and if this ticket is in a jurisdiction that I go to, then I would be able to help you.
