Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Can car be 'seized' by police
If a person is arrested and detained for Immigration reasons, can that police dept (in DuPage Co) 'seize' the
vehicle and deny anyone from taking it out from the impound ever?
I know they have the right to seize vehicles related to drug offenses, which they later sell at auctions, but for Immigration reasons?
If this is illegal, where can I get info in writing to fight this (state laws, city ordanances) or who can I contact in our states government to help me.
Thanks.

The first question is: Why was the person stopped?

I practice in Du Page County. I find it VERY unlikely that the vehicle was seized because of an immigration violation. Should you wish to make an appointment, you may email me.
