Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Charged for Negligence in a car accident, two part question

Recently I was involved in a car accident and have recieved a letter for the other driver's attorney.

Because there was an injury to the other driver, and I was given a ticket for not yeilding at an intersection, the judge in traffic court gave a continuance for another date(neither the cop or the witness showed).

The first part of the actual question is: how far will my insurance company protect me?

More importantly I am afraid for my job. I work for the Transportation Security Administration -I have no criminal record or even the slightest offenses. In the possible event I get charged with negligence in this accident what kind of effect would this have on my background. would this be a misdemeanor, etc? is this charge seriose enough to give me a record causing the loss of my job? I am asking this in the wake of TSA layoffs at Ohare Airport knowing that TSA does look at backgrounds and is cleaning house! I will need to protect myself because I believe I am not at fault an am also about to become a father, and possibly an unemployed one.

You need the immediate assistance of an attorney. If this matter is pending in the Chicago area, you might consider calling me at (630)893-2494, or another attorney. If you are not in the Chicago area, call your local bar association for legal assistance. Good luck!
