Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Confession after the fact

Was driving a friends car. Hit a curb car went partially off road and broke rear axle. Friend climbed into driver seat while I tried to push car out of harms way. Police arrived and gave friend ticket for DUI. I now need to give sworn statement that I was driving at the time of the accident. Have a revoked license. If I give the statement, can they use it to charge me with driving on a revoked license or anything else? Did not leave accident site. Told cop I was driving but because friend was in driver seat they gave him ticket.

Re: Confession after the fact

You are, as they say, between a rock and a hard place. Do the right thing and 'fess up, unless you want your friend to take a rap for DUI.
