Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Drinking ticket punishment
My buddy got a drinking ticket just walking back to his house. He got a $250 dollar fine. But now he got a letter in the mail claiming they are taking his drivers license away. Can they do that considering that he was not driving, he was just walking? If they can, why can they do that considering he wasn't operating a car?

Re: Drinking ticket punishment
The Illinois Vehicle Code provides for a suspension of a minor's driving privileges for those CONVICTED of various underage drinking offenses, including ordinance violations. Have your buddy give me a call and we can discuss.

Re: Drinking ticket punishment
You didn't say how old your buddy was, but my dollars say that he is a minor. There are several "punishments" for minors found to be drinking/intoxicated. Your "buddy" should secure the services of an attorney.
