Why does your 24 year old son keep missing court dates? Usually when a person misses one court date and has a good reason it is not difficult to get the warrant cancelled and the charge disposed of in a satisfactory manner. However, your 24 year old son has obviously demonstrated that he can not be trusted to appear in court when required to do so. Some Judges would not allow any amount of bond under these extreme circumstances. I can tell you that posting a ten percent bond should leave plenty of money with the court for the payment of fines and court costs at the end of the case. There may also possibly be some left over for a refund or to apply against a bond assignement on any unpaid attorney's fees. Depending upon where these cahrges are pending the amount of $1700 for a retainer fee does not seem out of line. Personally, I might have quoted you the amount of $1500 under certain circumstances. I would advise you to hire an attorney and do whatever is necessary to assure that your 24 year old son shows up in court on his court date.
