Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
drunk driving and other tickets
my daughter got a dui and has 3 more tickets that she recieved at Fairview Heights, Ill. July 3,2008. She was uninsured, following a vehicle to close, improper lane usage and drunk driving. She also has 3 more outstanding tickets from 2002, in St. Clair Co. Ill. Maraguana possession, paraphellia, and open container tickets she had not taken care of. Her court date is Aug. 5,2008 at St. Clair Co. Court, Ill. Can you tell me what she's up against? She has no extra money to get a lawyer and I don't have funds to help her. Can you please suggest what I can do to help her?

As of January 1, 2007, getting a DUI without having insurance is a Class 4 felony, punishible by 1 to 3 years in prison, a $25,000.00, fine or a combination of both.
Re: drunk driving and other tickets
Get her a Public Defender and pray.

Learn all you can about the process. You can start by visiting our website at http://shestokas.com/DUI.html That will give you some information about the DUI process, though surely not enough, but if she is going to have a public defender she should at least have some understanding of what her lawyer tells her.
