Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Hit and run accident

I was involved in an accident where the other driver claims to have not seen me on my motorcycle and pulled into the intersection after waiting at their stop sign into my path while I was traveling at the posted 45 mph limit, striking the rear of my bike causing me to lose control and leave the roadway. They had a stop sign - I was on a major 2 lane road where there is no stop. The driver that struck me then left the scene of the crash, a class A misdemeanor to say nothing of the moral question of hitiing a motorcycle and driving off. This driver has not been charged with this crime and is being protected by her community police department.

What a great question. First, I don't know what community police department is "protecting" this person, but it is not permitted. There is a separate Illinois police agency that investigates these "professional" errors. It seems to me that the real question here, rather than a criminal prosecution, is whether you sustained injuries in this collision. If so, you should contact a personal injury lawyer to initiate a cause of action against the other driver.
