Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
hit and run question
My sister was involved in a hit and run. She left a note for the unattended vehicle but the police officer didn't find it until the next day. She got a ticket for leaving the scene. My question is does she need a lawyer for her court date?
what kinda of penalty could she receive? There were no injuries and maybe $1000 bucks of damage to the other persons car.

Re: hit and run question
Yes, anyone charged with leaving the scene of an accident should hire an attorney. The range of punishment or possible fines would depend upon where she is charged, whether it is for violating a municipal ordinance or a state statute and other factors.
