Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

No insurance, with insurance

Had an accident in Sept, did not have

my proof of insurance in the car.

They gave me a ticket, and the next

morning I took my proof to the

courthouse. They threw out the

ticket. The two insurance agencies

involved are fighting for who needs to

pay what. So, we had a hearing to

determine fault in April. Yesterday, I

got pulled over and was arrested for a

suspended license and suspended

registration. A long story short,

EVERY entity involved is backlogged,

and the proper information has not

been passed up the chain. So the

DOT shows that I had an uninsured

accident, for which they need

someone to pay for. The SOS shows

that the DOT needs for me to pay an uninsured settlement. The city of

the accident shows no fault and no

citations issued. Now, my cars in

impound, the state is saying it needs

this legal stuff settled before I can

get it out, but it may take around 60

days for the paper trail to catch up

with those that need it. In the mean

time, I'm paying $25 a day for

impound, and after 30 days, they sell

my car. How do I get these entities

to talk to each other, and are there

any ramifications to THEM when I

lose my car for THEIR mistakes?

Re: No insurance, with insurance

Unfortunately, you did not state what county in which this is taking place. You have to get what in Cook County is called a transcript of the disposition of the ticket for no insurance. We have no "DOT" in Illinois. It's all under the "SOS." Send the transcript to the Secretary of State. If you're in Chicago, take it to 17 N. State St., 17th Fl, and give it to them.
