Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Judging young drivers

My 16 yr old was in a car accident in Jan. She was sitting in the center median on IL Route 116 around 7:10 AM waiting to complete her left turn after traffic cleared. She was then Broad sided because the other driver was following to close to a school bus& jerked her wheel to the left which then caused her to collide with our daughter. The rookie SP officer did not question the bus driver who had mentioned to the older trooper that the lady should have been issued a ticket for stupidity. They gave my daughter a ticket for failure to yield the right of way, even though she had already cleared the first half of the traffic & was waiting for traffic to clear so she could finish her left turn.The bus driver told us that he did not see our daughter at the stop sign and she wasnt crossing the traffic all the debris was in the left turn lane on the other side.The officer had mentioned that it would take time to figure out what happened because of the location of the cars,within 2 hours he came back to the hospital and gave me the ticket our daughter was unconscious. They also questioned our daughter while she was still in shock,and they never came back to question her once she was stabile.

Keep in mind that your daughter can only receive two convictions in a two year period. I recommend setting this case for trial. In my experience, the state has had difficulty proving people guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in accident cases.
